My Story

My journey in education began over 15 years ago, teaching in schools across London, West Sussex and, more recently, Gloucestershire. Throughout my career, I've been driven by one simple belief: every child deserves to feel understood, valued and capable of success.

As my experience grew, I took on a variety of senior leadership roles, including SENCO, where I developed a deep understanding of the diverse ways children learn and the barriers that can sometimes stand in their way. I found myself drawn to supporting children with literacy difficulties and dyslexia, helping them discover that learning can be both achievable and enjoyable with the right approach.

Wanting to deepen my expertise, I became accredited by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) as a Specialist Teacher for Literacy Difficulties and Dyslexia. This allows me to provide evidence-based assessments and personalised teaching programmes that build confidence as well as skills.

Alongside my work in schools, I have supported families as an advocate for children with Special Educational Needs, helping parents navigate the education system and ensuring children's voices and needs are recognised. This experience has given me a real appreciation of how important it is for families to feel listened to and supported.

I also trained as a Therapeutic Play Practitioner because I believe that learning and emotional wellbeing go hand in hand. When children feel safe, confident and understood, they are far more able to engage, take risks and reach their potential. This therapeutic approach continues to shape the way I work with every child.

Perhaps the biggest influence on my practice, however, has been my own family. As the parent of two neurodivergent children, I understand first-hand the joys, challenges and questions that many families experience. It's given me not only professional knowledge but genuine empathy, and a commitment to working in partnership with parents to help every child flourish.

Today, I combine all of these experiences to provide specialist, individualised support that helps children overcome barriers to literacy, develop confidence in their abilities and rediscover the joy of learning.
